Century Fast Foods Finds "Peace of Mind" With Brink's CompuSafe Service

(Irving, Texas - January 14, 2002) - Century Fast Foods of Los Angeles, California, which owns and operates numerous Taco Bell locations in the Los Angeles area, recently announced an agreement with Brink's CompuSafeŽ Service, an electronic cash handling service created to provide greater convenience and security for cash-intensive retail operations. Under this agreement, Brink's will provide CompuSafe Service to 40 Century Fast Foods' Taco Bell locations.

"Our primary objective is peace of mind," said Jim Clark, Vice President of Operations at Century Fast Foods. "Before, each location had to make three bank deposits a day. Managers and employees had to count all the cash, both cash-drawer and envelope cash, together before each deposit was made. Then, home-office management had the time-consuming task of tracking, verifying and reconciling all those deposits."

"With CompuSafe Service, we minimize the time and labor expense of counting cash, making the deposits and chasing down discrepancies. Now, managers can stay in the restaurant, which reduces the chance of robbery or accident, not to mention the issue of who is running the restaurant when the manager is gone or at the bank. When I say ?peace of mind,' I'm talking about peace of mind for everyone - the head of operations, the restaurant manager, and the employees," said Clark.

Brink's CompuSafe Service provides improved security and accuracy for cash transactions from the time a customer pays to the time the money is deposited in the bank and completely eliminates the manual counting and re-counting of cash on site at restaurants.

When restaurant employees insert currency into the CompuSafe unit, it reads and validates the bills, placing them in secure cassettes. Brink's collects the sealed containers and transports them to a Brink's currency room where trained tellers verify the deposits and combine deposits from all Century Fast Foods' participating locations. Brink's then makes a single, combined deposit into Century Fast Food's bank and provides deposit total and restaurant detail to Century Fast Foods' headquarters office.

"As for the bottom line, Brink's CompuSafe Service has paid for itself with the money we saved in banking fees and labor," said Clark. "It was really a ?no-brainer' for us."

"Being able to consolidate banking activities with a single bank has been a key benefit to Century Fast Foods and other multi-unit restaurants," said Glenn Mason, vice president of Brink's CompuSafe Service. "This saves the time and expense associated with multiple banking relationships and further reduces exposure to loss and error."

Brink's CompuSafe Service is a solution that offers Brink's quality service every step of the way, from the safes and armored transportation to the on-site maintenance and nationwide electronic reporting. Perhaps most important, because Brink's controls the entire process, the potential for theft and discrepancies is minimized and Brink's can guarantee its clients that the amount of cash reported in the cassettes when picked up will be deposited to their bank account.

Brink's, Incorporated, founded in 1859, is the largest provider of armored services in the world with over 150 facilities in the United States and a global network that spans over 50 countries.
