Brink's Provides Computerized Cash Management Service for RaceTrac Petroleum Stations in Georgia, Texas and Florida

New Service Designed for Cash-Intensive Retailers Improves Employee Productivity and Store Accountability

IRVING, TX, June 16, 1997 (NYSE- PZB) -- Brink's, Incorporated today announced CompuSafeŽ Service, a computerized, single-source, in-store cash management service designed for cash-intensive retail operations such as convenience stores and gas stations. CompuSafe service provides retail management greatly improved control over, and security of, cash transactions, from initial receipt by store employees through bank deposits and deposit reporting.

The new CompuSafe service is already in use by RaceTrac Petroleum, (Smyrna, GA) at stations in Georgia and Texas, and is being installed in the company's outlets in Florida based on the positive results of initial installations.

"We have already experienced major benefits from Brink's new cash management service," said Ben Tison, vice president of operations for RaceTrac Petroleum. "Instead of our managers spending two or more hours a day counting cash and going to the bank, they are concentrating on merchandising and customer service."

Since cash handling is automated, store employees are freed from time-consuming tasks and responsibilities associated with counting, reconciling and depositing large amounts of cash. Brink's provides all of the system components, including in-store cash management reporting, armored transportation, cash processing and banking deposits, hardware and software, installation and maintenance, and transaction reporting.

When store employees deposit currency into the CompuSafe unit, it reads and validates the deposited bills, placing them in secure "cassettes" that can only be opened in Brink's nationwide network of currency rooms. After the Brink's messenger delivers the cassette to the currency room via armored transportation, tellers combine deposits from the retailer's various locations and transfer the funds to the retailer's local, regional or national bank.

The complete process allows accounts to be consolidated in a single bank in a specific market, or across multiple markets, saving time, as well as the expense of managing multiple banking relationships. Store and deposit details can be downloaded to the retailer's headquarters while the bank is receiving the deposit electronically.

CompuSafe service is available immediately. For complete information on Brink's services or the new CompuSafe service, call 800-BRINKS-5.
